A Brown Box

One of my children’s favorite way to engage in art is by decorating a plain and brown cardboard box. We receive endless amazon packages and for my children, the box is often better than what is inside. The bigger the box, the better! They have dubbed their creations “Stuffy World.” Every box created becomes part of the town where their stuffed animals reside. They spend hours and hours transforming a box to become the reptile house for the zoo or the brand new playground with a slide. There is no limit to where their imaginations’ will take them and the upside is that it is very affordable. Creating art does not have to involve spending money. They pull out their markers, stickers, and painters tape and literally “Go to town” for their plushies. As a mother, I have many sweet memories of my children. One of my favorites is watching my children create and collaborate together and then enjoy the final result. “Stuffy World” may be taking up more room in our house, but so is the laughter and creativity.
